Like all great people, renowned photographer and filmmaker, Achraf Baznani, was unaware of his creative gift until he received a camera as a birthday gift during his teenage years. But this was only the first step in the long creative journey of Baznani, who started off by capturing the unnatural things within nature through the lens of his camera. With time he started pictures of real moments in such a manner that made them look extra-ordinary.
Born and raised in Morrocco, Achraf Baznani did not receive any formal training in photography. Despite being a self-taught artist, he has the ability to give an entirely different meaning to the pictures captured by him. He attempts to find the limits of imagination through his surreal photography and uses his creative genius to present his subjects in a manner that is both thought provoking and enjoyable.
What truly makes Achraf Baznani, the master of surreal photography is his ability to put forth inventive scenarios around small human figures. He often uses his own portraits as a subject of his totally wild, imaginative and wholly impractical imagery. His knack to use surreal photography for depicting life experiences of the modern digital age in a humorous and wonderful manner. His two photo books, “Through my lens”, and “Inside my dreams” take the viewers on a pictographic journey through the various emotions and experiences of the human mind.
In addition to being an extremely skilled surreal artist, Achraf Baznani is also a renowned and award winning short film maker. He is amongst those few artists whose art is beyond any verbal description as just a view of his work makes the onlookers feels like having known him for long.
