Movie posters are used to promote a movie or a film. Design houses and studios design the poster of the movie in various size and content for different markets. Generally a movie poster contains an image with text in an extremely creative way that speaks of the movie. The text on the movie posters contains the title of the movie, the tag line – if there is any, the names of the director and actors, release date etc. Movie posters can also feature pictures of the protagonists. Movie posters are displayed on the streets, shops, both inside outside the theatre. The same images are also used on DVDs, newspapers and magazines etc. Movie posters evolved from placards listing the movie to be shown in a theatre hall. By the beginning of 20th century, these placards began to bear the illustration of a movie in form of various images from the movie.
